My model supports 120Hz, and also has HDMI2.0. Can they support PS5 and XBOX series X for 1080p@120hz?

Specification  /   2021-04-15

Not all the HDMI2.0 high refresh rates models are compatible, the key is whether the monitor has the video timing embedded. If it does not have it, then it won’t support it, even if it has HDMI2.0/2.1 or higher refresh rate spec.

Currently, only XL2546S, XL2546K, XL2540K, XL2411K, XL2436K have 1080p@120Hz of “video timing” embedded. As 120Hz video timing for the console was not confirmed and adopted by the industry before, old models other than those models (such as XL2746S, XL2740, XL2546, XL2540, and XL2536) will not support it, even though they have 120Hz for “PC timing” or have HDMI2.0 spec. Unfortunately, they don’t have 120Hz timing for the new console platform.

There are some discussions on forums: teaching customers how to setup 120HZ under PS5/XBOX X (video setting option on PS5/XBOX X). But if the monitor doesn’t have those video timing embedded, it won’t work regardless.
